Wordless Wednesday: Back to School

It's that time of the year again: back to school! My little guy complained about going back up to the day before, but then it was like a switch when the first day arrived. He was very excited to see his friends again, and once he was at the bus stop, he was happy. He has come home the last two days talking about how "awesometacular" school is, and I couldn't be happier. I love that he is so social, he loves to learn, and his school is so great at making the kids feel at home.

And, because summer has not quite left us yet, here is Josh at the beach this weekend, along with some other beach photos I had wanted to share last week. (I completely forgot on Wednesday. Oops!) Josh is pretty grateful that his school has air conditioning, with the humidity and temps getting up to around 90F this week. We'll enjoy the salt water for now, but we can't wait for Autumn!

Linking up with Ruchira for Wordless Wednesday

So Far This June...

I've been slacking with the blog lately, and completely spaced on Wordless Wednesday this week (sorry, Ruchira!). It's a long story, and we'll talk about it eventually, but I wanted to give a quick rundown of some of the things that have been going on. With photos, of course!

Joshua got a new swing set for my mother's house. In case you can't tell by the photo, he likes it. And he's keeping it mighty tidy.

I visited my friend in Quincy MA and discovered Nut Island. Gorgeous views of Boston, and a lovely walking path.

Joshua had his last tee ball game, which included the full game experience -- National Anthem, player announcements, concessions. If they had a walk-up song, his would probably be something from Frozen, although he's currently obsessed with the latest Little Rascals movie and loves the song, "I Got You, Babe."

I visited my dad on Father's Day and we dined in and walked around Newport. On the way home, there was an awesome sunset over Narragansett Bay.

We had a goodbye lunch for my work friend, by the sea on the other side of the bay. I am going to miss my lunch buddy. :(

Last night, I returned to Newport with my friend, to catch my favorite singer, Dierks Bentley, in concert. The venue was gorgeous, the music was awesome, the energy was high, and we had such a blast. The seats weren't bad, either!

Picture Inspiration: Week 24 (1) by goaliej54

The theme this week: Shoot for the Stars. I found this "star" in my cereal.

Picture Inspiration: Weeks 22 & 23

Picture Inspiration: Week 22 by goaliej54
The theme for Week 22 was "Finding Our Tribe," and came with some information/advice about careers and (in career, creative pursuits, and personal life) being with people with qualities we admire and who support us, etc. I feel somewhat lost in this department -- not sure where I am headed, often feeling like an outsider -- but there is one thing I can count on: I will have Josh's little smiling face and a big hug waiting for me. I took this while we were watching my nephew's baseball game. I noticed later that you can even see the matching "beauty marks" on our arms. Aww. :)

Easton's Beach
Week 23's theme was "Organic Lines." We were to seek out lines in nature. I haven't gotten to be out in nature too much lately, so I used this older photo of the beach and this photo from this week of a funky horizon line.

[212/365] The Animals of RWP Zoo

[212/365] The Animals of RWP Zoo by goaliej54
Took Josh to the zoo today, and got a few good photos of the animals. Josh was disappointed that he couldn't get into the cage and play with the monkeys (I was not surprised), but he had a good time, anyway.

Collage created with Picnik. More zoo photos here.

[211/365] Butterfly

The butterfly bush attracted this little fellow for a while the other day. Luckily, long enough for me to grab my camera and get a few shots.

[210/365] Carnival

[210/365] Carnival by goaliej54

A little blury, but I was also holding a 2.5 year old at the time. He was too short to go on any of the rides (min 36", and he's only 34"), but had a blast playing some of the games.

Josh's giraffe, checking himself out in the reflection of my iPhone.

[208/365] Josh's Sunglasses

[208/365] Josh's Sunglasses by goaliej54

Josh loves his sunglasses; like Mama, he has eyes that are very sensitive to the sun. I found these adorable glasses at Children's Place. They were only $2.50/pair, so I bought three different colors. So stylin'.

Taking random photos around the house with my macro lens. Hoping to have the chance soon to take it outside and try to get some good flower shots.

[203/365] Boston

[203/365] Boston by goaliej54

Went to Boston for an appointment yesterday morning. The plan was to bring Josh along so we could go to the aquarium afterwards, but he was sick and the temperature was record-breaking (my car thermometer topped out at 104F). So, maybe next time.

[202/365] Birthday Gift

[202/365] Birthday Gift by goaliej54

This necklace was a gift from my mother for my birthday. I love the beautiful dried flowers inside. And this photo was taken with a lens I purchased with birthday money (a Canon compact macro). Hooray for toys.

[201/365] Bee Dinner

[201/365] Bee Dinner by goaliej54

I was taking photos of this echinacea plant when this bee stopped by for dinner.

My macro lens is in, and I will get to pick it up tomorrow. I CANNOT WAIT!

Picture Inspiration: Week 21

Picture Inspiration: Week 21 by goaliej54

The theme this week was "From the Heart." Of course, this little man has my heart. Surrounded by all of the stuffed animals that he loves, he looked so precious the other morning. It was a shame I had to wake him!

[198/365] Back to the Beach

[198/365] Back to the Beach by goaliej54

Beached it again today. I'm enjoying these relaxing summer days. Sandcastles, swimming in the ocean, sitting on a chair and people-watching. Josh loves to just sit in his chair, eat a snack, and watch everyone. Sometimes while singing. If I can get him to swim with me when he is older, he will be a perfect beach partner.
